Dear Students, Parents and Guardians,
My name is Julia Mead and I will be teaching Middle School Science this year at Most Precious Blood. I truly consider it an honor and a privilege to be part of such a vibrant, faith-filled team! This is my third year in a school setting, having spent the last two years teaching Science and Religion at St Therese, but for 25 years prior to that was involved in instructing/catechizing children from 3 years old through high school.
In college I studied Zoology with Teacher Certification for Grades 6-12 at Eastern Illinois University. However, after graduating God had other plans for me. I was soon married to my husband, Mark, and we began our family and our adventure in parish ministry.
Mark and I have been blessed with five beautiful children and welcomed four grandchildren in the last two years! Our youngest son is still in the nest and attends Bishop Luers High School. Also ‘in the nest’ is our rescue dog, Zeke. In my spare time, I enjoy hiking and gardening and I am always looking for opportunities to deepen my knowledge of the Catholic Faith.
The focus of my last twelve years in ministry was on Family Formation and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS). I am excited to bring the sense of awe and wonder that is foundational to CGS into the realm of science as we study the natural created order – through which we can begin to know Our Creator. I look forward to assisting the families of Most Precious Blood, helping their children realize their fullest potential as students, and ultimately, as children of God and His Kingdom!
