After teaching music for 11 years (9 of those here at PB), I am finally at one school, full-time, doing one thing! Except I’m not teaching music anymore. In God’s gracious timing the Technology position opened here and I made the switch. This switch allows me to do something I’ve been wanting to do for a while: teach children and teachers. Part of the technology position here at PB means I have time to help teachers learn to use programs and effectively incorporate technology into instruction. This switch also pairs nicely with my online master’s program in Learning Design and Technology that I’m currently completing through Purdue University.
In Technology class, K-8 students will be learning and practicing digital citizenship (e.g. how to stay safe online; balance media use; evaluate sources of information, etc.), coding, computer science skills, and STEAM careers (Science-Technology-Engineering-Arts-Mathematics). Students in grades 3-8 will also learn and practice typing skills.
I’m also here to assist parents in accessing PowerSchool (to check grades), Canvas (grades 4-8), and SeeSaw (grades K-3).
Elearning assignments are always posted in Canvas for grades 4-8 and SeeSaw for grades K-3. For planned eLearning days I usually have everything available to work on the day before, starting at 3pm.
